Dear Steve – Thank you so very much for everything. You are a wonderful instructor!! My son is just thriving with excitement and determination about mastering the guitar……and the fact that your unique form of instruction and encouragement has motivated him so that he is creating his own songs and lyrics……truly is masterful!! You really have a unique ability for working with young people. You are the best!!
Sincerely,
Michele, Teaneck, NJ
Three years ago, our 12-year-old wanted to learn to play the guitar. We hired a conventional guitar teacher and after about ten lessons, she decided that she didn’t want to play guitar any more. We tried another teacher with a similar result, before finding Steve. They hit it off immediately. After just one lesson, she could sense the progress and growth in her playing, which was an incredible motivator. Within no more than two or three lessons, she could play her first song! In a couple of months she could play five or six songs. Half of the songs she learned, were songs that she asked to learn. She was never forced to play anything she didn’t want to play. She loved learning with Steve.
I love music almost as much as Steve does. I have also played bass guitar. Steve and I have had many conversations about music and his teaching method. He is very passionate about it and will gladly discuss his views with you and listen to yours. He would be happy if other teachers used his method… it would make more guitar players… how could THAT be a bad thing? Here is the Steve Bag Method as I have seen and understand it…
The Steve Bag Method part 1: Lesson one…. Steve talks to the student and finds out their musical interests. Then he plays a few songs for the student on his guitar, trying to find one that the student would like to learn. Steve will break that song down into simple chords and start the teaching process. Lesson two… Steve brings a song or three that was part of the students musical interest. Steve will rework those songs so that they contain the same chords as the first song and add a little something extra. After that, Steve keeps teaching new songs and expanding the skill level and knowledge of the student.
The Steve Bag Method part 2: Steve is a wonderful person and teacher. He has a special way with his students and keeps the frustration down and motivation up. Part one can be duplicated, but part two can not. Steve is simply the best.

I had always wanted to learn how to play the guitar … and like so many other things, I procrastinated. Well, fortunately for me, earlier this year I finally made the decision to start and called Steve to set up my first lesson. Since I wasn’t sure how it would be, he allowed me to borrow a guitar for the first few lessons. By lesson number two I was playing “music” and quickly thereafter I was playing recognizable songs I chose with Steve. Once I knew I liked it, Steve even helped me find the right guitar and made sure the price was fair. At 50, I’m no prodigy so I do it because I enjoy it — Steve makes it very doable and fun. I couldn’t be more pleased with the enjoyment I get by actually making music and I credit Steve with it. I would recommend him highly. And on top of it all, he’s a really nice guy who operates with the utmost integrity. He is always on time and very organized.

I have been playing guitar on and off for over 40 years. Before I began working with Steve, I had never taken a lesson. Being self-taught, my playing was probably fairly typical – I was decent in some areas but I also had huge gaping holes in my technique. I was looking for someone to help fill in those gaps and put me on the road to becoming a more complete player. Steve Weissberg has provided that, and much more.
Steve is not only an outstanding guitar player, he is also a great teacher. Finding those two qualities together in one person is a rare thing. He is patient and he can very clearly communicate concepts about playing and theory. He is supportive and has the ability to inspire a student to keep working at getting better, in spite of the challenges and frustrations of learning a musical instrument. He is equally at home relating to children and teens as he is working with more “seasoned players” like myself. He has a near-encyclopedic knowledge of pop music and can play/teach a remarkable library of tunes from sheer memory. And in my case, as a singer/songwriter, he functions as an invaluable mentor, offering insightful feedback and providing significant creative input into my writing process.
Finally, Steve is just a great guy. He gives his all to our lessons, is tirelessly interested, and makes every lesson entertaining, enjoyable and, of course, instructive. He has my highest recommendation.

U have been THE BEST!! Whenever anyone asks about guitar teachers we always sing your praises! (no pun intended!) Eitan has always always enjoyed every moment and we thank you tremendously for opening his eyes and horizons to music, which he loves in most part due to U.
All the best always,
Yaffa (Student’s Parent), Teaneck, NJ
Steve is a great teacher! He is patient, cheerful and fun to work with. I’ve recommended him to many of my clients for either their children or themselves, and they all have heartily thanked me for the recommendation. I am an adult beginner, and I’ve found, at least for me, that learning a new skill must be fun and enjoyable or I’ll move on to something else. Thanks to Steve, I’m sticking with this, and I’m having a great time learning to play. He’s a great teacher!

Our experience with Steve has been nothing short of incredible!! We can not believe how quickly our daughter has picked up playing the guitar, especially in such a short period of time!! He is patient, kind, and extremely professional. I have already recommended him to several of my friends!!

Caring makes all the different between someone who gives lessons and a genuine ‘music teacher’, which you are.

Steve has been my guitar teacher for about 4 years. He is a fantastic person, and really knows how to bring out the best of guitar. He jumps right into teaching what the student wants to play, which is what really got me to love the guitar. Every lesson we have together is always enjoyable and fun.
